Isabelle Smith In Memoriam

Isabelle Smith, our friend in life and session passed away last week. This Labor Day, September 2nd we will play tunes and raise a glass in her memory. Isabelle was an active force in Scottish music and dance in NYC, running the Cameron Ensemble, fiddle workshops and country dance groups. She was a dancer, choreographer, fiddler and bon vivant, who lit up many rooms with her quick wit. She was intrepid even in her later years, traveling across NYC to participate in the session. We send up a tune and a prayer for you dear Isabelle, thanks for all your cultural work and your funny dear self.  Her funeral will be this coming Friday 6th September at 10:00 am at St Luke’s Episcopal Church, 85 Greenway South, Forest Hills, NY 11375 and at night time her close pal Rev. William Ogden of St. Paul’s 199 Carroll Street, Brooklyn 11231 is hosting a musical and dancing celebration of her life at his church 6.30-9.30pm. He invites all her musician, dancing and Scottish diaspora pals to participate. Iona is at 180 Grand Street in Williamsburg Brooklyn. Our winter season of session special guests starts Sept 9.
