A fabulous Brooklyn Burns Night celebrating the life and work of Scotland’s bard, Robert Burns. Drams, songs, live Scottish traditional music, toasts and delicious haggis with Battlefield Band and Daimh fiddler, Alasdair White, piper Andrew Forbes, Matthew Christian, Karen Brown, Pamela Agaloos, Tiffany Knight, Max Carmichael, Calum Pasqua, Matt Diaz. Save the Date! Cancel the Inauguration! The IONA BURNS NIGHT returns in all it’s shaggy glory next Wednesday 25th January at 9pm. Fiddler Emerald Rae and piper Andrew Forbes will unleash the musical beasts. Poetry, comedy, haggis and cheap adult beverages will flow. JR Strauss, Max Carmichael, Amy Lynn, Calum Michael, Matt Diaz, Pamela Jean Agaloos, Miguel Coias and Karen Brown in the house. Crying and screaming permitted. Also dancing and laughing.
How did we get this lucky? It’s song week at Iona and our special guest is the legendary Scots Gaelic singer Christine Primrose. Our own Pamela Jean Agaloos will host Monday 12th from 9pm then we’ll have a full on Gaelic song night on Sunday 18th from 7pm with the BBC in to film for the 2nd time this year. Come along, bring a song, it doesn’t have to be gaelic or require a santa hat, and there is a prize if you do both.
Session will not run on Monday 26th December, but we will be back in the New Year on January 2nd.
September 26th with Will Woodson- we’re starting at 10.30pm after the presidential debate but usually tunes start at 9pm. October 17th we have Andrew Sharp doing a pipes and woodwind workshop before the session. October 24th a film crew will be in to record.
June 13th we’re having a send off party for our regular piper, Andrew Forbes with the lovely singer and fiddler Liz Hanley at the helm. June 20th we close the winter/spring season with the fabulous Caitlin Warbelow, fiddler and teacher extraordinaire. We’ll be back after Labor Day! Starting with a Thursday night 6-9pm early bird special session on St. Pat’s March 17th, we have an exciting lineup for the next six weeks at Iona on our regular Mondays. A special night planned for April 4th when we will be celebrating Sebastian McLaughlin’s art exhibit ,currently on show at Iona, with a party from 7-9pm followed by the session 9 – midnight on Monday April 4th.

Join us next Monday June 22nd for the inaugural MIDSUMMER BURNS NIGHT at Iona. It’s all about the thrumming, free wheelin’, summer-lovin’ poetry and songs of the Bard, so we’ll be singing, declaiming, bagpiping, and raging around in our cutty sarks, dressing droddums and kissing barefit carlins. A great cast of characters will be in attendance – Glenfiddich Champion fiddler, Calum Pasqua, Young Wolfetone Andrew Sharp, piper JR Strauss, Burns Scholar, Professor Thomas Keith and the Iona session band. Our Friends at Laphroaig will be offering tastes of their fine whiskies and there will be specials on Belhaven Ale and Crabbies Alcoholic Ginger Beer!
