This coming Monday 27th October, we’re pleased to welcome back to Brooklyn our old mucker and A- Number 1 piper Will Woodson. Excited to play all the tunes we learned from him. Definitely a night for the tape recorder.

ALBA’S EDGE GIG – On Sunday 19th October in NYC downtown our pals from Portland, Maine Lilly and Neil Pearlman bring their Scottish trad/afro cuban/jazz influenced band, Alba’s Edge to Gotham City to play Cafe Vivaldi in the Village from 8pm. Lilly and Neil (children of Scottish fiddler Ed Pearlman) are amazing musicians, and this show will be a stonker. Get there early if you want a seat then come and play some tunes with Alba’s fiddler Lilly at Iona on Monday night from 9pm
New York Trad Fest October 13th – 19th 2014 Alasdair White leads Iona and performs at Connolly’s Klub 45
We had a great night last night at Iona as part of NY Trad Week with our special guest Alasdair White welcoming a stellar crop of fiddlers. Alasdair will represent Scottish music on Saturday October 18th at the Connolly’s NY trad fest gig.There’s more action all week long around the city for the fest. Tonight Tuesday 14th October – Liz Hanley leads the Dempsey’s Session. Wednesday 15th, Joanie Madden is at Swift’s with Tony DeMarco, then Saturday night October 18th the big gala gig is at Connolly’s Klub 45 in Manhattan with a great roster of amazing Irish, Old Time, Scottish and Klezmer talent plus dancing, yodeling and singing! Tickets for Connolly’s Klub . Followed on the Sunday 19th by the finale of New York Trad Fest at the Irish Arts Center. Featuring Brooklyn-born fiddler Tony Demarco, traditional and original folk duet Murphy Beds, American fiddler Kenny Kosek, Irish-American flute and whistle player Joanie Madden, American fiddler Eileen Ivers, American five-string banjo player Tony Trischka, and more, the evening is sure to live long in the memory. Thanks to all our supporters and especially to the bar – Robbie, Victor, J and Miguel – we made it – Kickstarter came in during the session last Monday. Join us this coming Monday for the last session before we break for the summer led by the wondrously talented Amy Beshara accompanied by Max Carmichael on guitar. We’re planning to make the album over summer and debut it when the session returns to Iona after Labor Day! Still time to contribute! Links below :

Battlefield Band fiddler, Alasdair White hosts Iona on Memorial Day , Monday 26th May from 8.30pm
Join us on Memorial Day, Monday 26th May, for a start of summer music celebration hosted by fiddler Ali White, with special guest pipers playing uilleann, borders and Scottish small pipes. Tunes start around 9pm.
